Few things are more stress-inducing than having to eat out as a vegan in this omnivorous world. This is especially true if you are living with allergies, but I digress. I’m willing to bet that you have had enough bad experiences finding rogue pieces of meat in your food to give you trust issues. Trusting someone else to cook for you is hard.
I want to call this a “hack”(because all the cool kids are doing it) but it’s really not. This bit of knowledge might, however, seem counterintuitive: Ethnic restaurants are a vegan’s best friend sometimes.
No, really.
Case in point: currently road tripping around Northern California with three omnivores. We happen across a Mexican restaurant. Everyone loves Mexican food, right? Right!
I wish I’d taken a picture of the menu so you would believe me when I tell you: vegetable fajitas is a regular ol’ menu item.

This deliciousness came with beans, rice, guacamole, and salsa. The only “special” requests I had to make involved telling them to hold the sour cream, and asking to make sure the tortillas they brought me were corn and not flour(because being celiac is the worst.).

This was more food than I can eat, and that’s really saying something! I got a to-go container and brought it with me to eat for tomorrow’s lunch. Being vegan also means leftovers can sit in the car for a little while, and no one gets botulism.
